A good base can get you anywhere, or it can at least get you far – makeupwise. regardless of your skin type, there are three basics that can get you ready to go quickly, while looking healthy and glowy.

A primer isn’t a necessary step, but it is a wise one to incorporate into your routine. It can do a lot in one step, that your foundation might be able to do after one too many layers. Dior’s Glow maximizer light boosting primer is perfect for giving you a healthy glow, and to make your foundation finish dewy but not oily. You can either apply the primer on top of your moisturizer, before foundation, or you can blend it in with your foundation for an even application.

Together with the glow maximizer, you can use just about any foundation. A good foundation (in the right shade for your skin!) can do wonders for your base, without you having to pile it on. There are many choices, but Chanel kind of has the unofficial title as mother of foundations, and their Vitalumière Aqua is a much loved favorite – for good reasons. It’s water based so it blends smoothly. You can easily use your fingers to blend it in, but it also works well with a buffing brush or a beauty blender. The coverage is light to medium, but very buildable. The finish is quite dewy, so if your skin is on the oily side, you might want to pick up Vitalumière’s newly released sister; Chanel Perfection Lumière Velvet Foundation.

Concealer concealer concealer. A heavily discussed topic, and not always such an easy one. What to conceal, how to conceal, with what and so on. For an easy, varied everyday concealer the Cover All Mix from Make Up Store is a good choice. It consists of three creamy shades: a yellow toned to conceal redness, a red shade for concealing those bluegreen shades under the eyes and a light shade to brighten and highlight. The Cover All works great with either finger warm application, or with using a brush for a heavier cover. The rule of thumb here goes for all of makeup; less is always more, you can always add-on.
